Casa Felice is a recently restored detached house and garden with panoramic views over northern Lake Como. Sleeping 4-8, it  has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a 25ft living room with full-length balcony.  There is a roof  terrace and a terraced garden, plus a garage and parking space.

As a detached house, in an area where appartments are the rule, Casa Felice provides a freedom and privacy rare in local holiday property. "As for the views from the balcony and terrace - wow!" as a guest commented. (Roof terraces are also unusual and the house is on the first hills from the lake). The property has been renovated to a high standard, is spacious and well-equipped. It has a comprehensive information pack to help you get the most from your holiday in the area.

The house stands at the edge of the village of Stazzona, looking over the small lakeside towns of Gravedona and Dongo towards Lake Como and the mountains beyond. There are several bars and restaurants about a ten minute walk away.  A bank, supermarket and other shops are about five minutes by car to Dongo. There is also a bus to Dongo from where regular bus and boat services go to the other lakeside towns like beautiful Bellagio.

Stazzona is 1 1/2 to 2 hours by car from the three Milan airports of Linate, Malpensa and Bergamo.

The area is an ideal centre for exploring the magnificent scenery of northern Lake Como. It  has a mild and sunny microclimate which keeps the roads largely snow-free in winter and explains the subtropical bouganvillaea, palm and citrus trees along the lakeside. The warm spring encourages outdoor activities from April  to October.

For those looking for relaxation there are beach walks, boat trips, interesting churches and beautiful villas, good food and romantic strolls along the lakeside.

For mountain lovers there are paths and mountain bike trails through the tranquility of woodland and the dramatic vistas of mountain and lake as well as many climbs.

For lovers of water the area is one of the best in Europe for watersports and there are  windsurfing, sailing and waterskiing centres within easy reach. You can also sunbathe, swim, hire canoes and motorboats and fish.

There are horse-riding stables on the Piano di Spagna and an 18-hole golf course in Menaggio (both about 10 miles away).

In winter those wanting to combine the attractions of Lake Como with skiing or snowboarding will find resorts like Madesimo and Bobbio-Valtorta about 30 miles away. Locals also go to smaller nearby resorts like Pescegallo-Valgerola, and further away to eg St Moritz .

The cities of Como and Lugano are both about an hour's drive away. Milan is 1 1/2 hours,or you can catch a train from nearby Colico for about 6 euros!

Most  restaurants as well as  ticket  offices etc  speak  English, while trying a few words in Italian is always appreciated. As George Clooney put it: " I love the way people treat you here, so I plan to keep coming  and spending more time here. It's so beautiful..."   If you like Italy, beautiful scenery and architecture,  relaxation or outdoor activities, you'll love it here. We leave you an  information folder in the house with our recommendations about  places to go and things to do.
